A Message from our Chairman & President
Dear Governors,
The past school year has been one of the most challenging our country has ever experienced. It literally began with the massacres of October 7th which resulted in countless deaths, including University students and graduates as well as family and friends of faculty members. Students and faculty were called into military service immediately and served for months on end.
This past year was also marked by destruction across northern Israel. Over 70,000 residents of the North were evacuated and became refugees in their own country. When this war comes to an end, the rehabilitation process will begin and we will assist in reintegrating residents into their homes and communities. As President of the University of Haifa, I believe that it is incumbent upon us to play a pivotal role in this process. – President Gur Alroey

Dear Governors,
Our nation is defending its homeland following the devastating events of the Black Sabbath of October 7th. In the midst of our grief, we draw strength from the cohesive spirit of Israeli society and the unwavering support of Jewish communities worldwide as it rallies to support our soldiers.
Early in the campaign, we focused on acquiring life-saving gear for our brave soldiers. With help from our international friends, we provided ceramic vests and portable ultrasound devices for MASH units.
University of Haifa is committed to supporting hundreds of its students who have been called for reserve duty and displaced families. We have established the President’s Emergency Fund to ensure their well-being. The Fund will provide for:
1. Living Stipends: Access to financial assistance to each student soldier.
2. Psychological Support Package: Provided to students soldiers and their families through the University’s Interdisciplinary Clinical Center.
3. University Dormitories: Shelter for evacuated families on the University’s Mt. Carmel and City campuses.
By safeguarding our student soldiers and displaced families, we secure our homeland for future generations.

In a recent mission, our paramedical unit successfully evacuated a wounded soldier, injured by shrapnel from the Gaza Strip, perched atop a jeep. The decision-making process was intense, as we weighed the option of summoning a helicopter for evacuation. The portable ultrasound systems swiftly confirmed our initial prognosis—ruling out internal bleeding. With this crucial information, we responsibly canceled an unnecessary helicopter evacuation under intense fire.

I'm in awe of the determination displayed by young people, the men and women of the security forces, who take action and strive to win. The current circumstances leave us no choice but to persevere.
